In her cover of “Flowers”, Yuqi remains faithful to Cyrus’ original in many ways, albeit with a slightly more muted bass part. “I can buy flowers for myself / Write your name in the sand / Talk to yourself for hours / Say things you don’t understand,” she sings in the chorus.
Yuqi starred alongside a stylish music video that follows her as she sings a song to herself while exploring Seoul on foot and by bus. She later holds a mini-concert on a pier by the beach, before the clip ends with the message: “Always be proud of yourself.”
Last month, Yuqi teamed up with bandmate (G)I-DLE Mien in the song “Sweet Dream” for the soundtrack to the Netflix K-drama series “Love to Hate You.” Last year, she also collaborated with former LOONA member Joo, former IZ*ONE member Choi Yong, Choi Yoo Jung from Weki Meki and Arin from OH MY GIRL for a cover of KARA’s 2011 single “Step”.
The performance of the quintet “Step” was part of the MBC Gayo Daejejeon Music Festival at the end of the year, marking the beginning of the new year. Other notable appearances on the program include Kep1er and TEMPEST’s cover of SEVENTEEN’s “Pretty U”, as well as IVE’s cover of Girls’ Generation’s “Lion Heart”.
In November 2022, Yuqi had to be rushed to the hospital due to an unspecified health condition, and her agency CUBE Entertainment stated that at that time the singer’s health “deteriorated”.
