Julian Sands’ brother said he “feels deep down” that his missing brother is “gone.”
The British actor went missing on January 13 while walking in the Baldy Bowl area in the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles.
Nick Sands, who last saw his brother in October, told the Craven Herald he was resigned to the prospect of Julian not returning.
“He hasn’t been reported missing yet, presumed dead, but deep down I know he’s missing,” Nick said. “Whatever the rivalry between brothers and sisters, it would be in his spirit to leave there and prove that I am wrong.
“He was planning to join his brothers at our Monday Club for a beer in Skipton on Monday; he will be missed and I think we will raise a glass to him.”
The rescue operation was launched by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office in the San Gabriel Mountains area. On January 20, the ground search was suspended due to the danger of avalanches, the search continued with the help of a helicopter.
Authorities previously told the BBC that over the past four weeks they have responded to 14 calls on Mount San Antonio due to bad weather conditions.
Earlier this week, the Sands family praised the “heroic” efforts of the California authorities conducting the search.
As we enter day 11 of the search for Julian Sands on Mt. Baldy, we are reminded of the sheer determination & selflessness of all of the people who have aided in this search. We will continue to utilize the resources available to us. The family would like to share this statement: pic.twitter.com/owO2o97f16

“We heartily thank the compassionate employees of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department who are coordinating the search for our beloved Julian, not least the heroic search terms listed below, who are enduring difficult conditions on the ground and in the air to bring Julian home,” the statement said.
“We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support.”
Julian has starred in such films as “Fields of Death”, “Room with a View”, “Arachnophobia”, “Leaving Las Vegas” and “Warlock”. He also appears in such series as “24 hours”, “Secrets of Smallville” and “Banshee”.
Most recently, he appeared in the film “The Blessing” together with Jack Lowden and Peter Capaldi, where he played the chief doctor.
