Prey has become one of the unexpected hits of 2022, which many who have seen it can’t stop buzzing about. The film is a prequel to the classic 1987 action movie Predator, in which Arnold Schwarzenegger played the main role. Prey not only received stellar reviews from critics, but also offered an incredible breakthrough game by the star Amber Midtander. Now the actress is teasing a potential sequel to Hulu, and we’re very excited.
Midthunder recently visited BAFTA, where she told Variety about the film. She was asked if Hulu was releasing a sequel to Prey, and the actress seemed very interested in the prospect. While Midthunder remained modest when it came to any official details, she still offered promising information about a possible movie. She opened:
I don’t have a date for you. It’s not an ad, but I’m not saying it’s not. … We talk about a lot of things all the time, and this is probably one thing.
This is certainly promising news. Fans of “Predator” were delighted with the fact that Prey supplemented the franchise, as well as from the previously established knowledge on which the film was based. I am sure that another prequel film will tell even more deeply about the origin of the title creature and, perhaps, will bring back some fan-favorite characters from the original film. I keep my fingers crossed. Midthunder definitely seems excited and ready to participate in another Prey movie, because when asked if she wanted a sequel, she excitedly replied:
Of course! Yeah! I’m ready! I enjoyed this experience, I love this movie, and yes, I would be happy, you know, to see where else we can use it.
Well, that’s definitely a great sign. Midthunder was incredible in the film, and to see her again in such a cool role would be such a pleasure. For those unfamiliar, Prey follows a Comanche warrior (played by Midthunder) who defends the tribe from an alien predator that feasts on humans for fun. The predator in question is a name alien to the franchise. While the Predator films have had several iterations in the franchise, Predator certainly stands out and seems to satisfy even the most ardent fans.
The role certainly opened the door for Midtander, who was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for her role in the film. The actress is also going to appear in the series “Avatar: The Legend of Aang” for Netflix together with Daniel Dae Kim. This is a long-awaited project after a widely criticized feature film, also adapted from the famous animated series. Maybe Midthunder is exactly what the series needs to be successful among fans.
