Continuing vaccination studies all over the world have recently spread to the GTA 5 game, which is very successful on the online side.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which entered our lives towards the end of 2019 and caused the death of millions of people all over the world, continues its impact at full speed. Although some progress has been made in vaccination studies, new variants emerging day by day reveal that the virus still poses a great threat to human health.

Of course, whether or not to get vaccinated is completely people’s own decision. Today, however, many moves are being made by states to encourage vaccination to end the pandemic. In some cases, even the virtual world and video games, in which the young audience is very active, are preferred. A new one has been added recently.

GTA 5 now hosts COVID-19 vaccine centers

As it is known, GTA 5, besides its immersive story, has a huge player base on the online side. Especially with the roleplay servers it contains, it offers an experience as if you are living in real life in the game. When this is the case, one of the most suitable games that can be preferred to encourage vaccination is undoubtedly GTA 5.

At this point, Pfizer, which developed the COVID-19 vaccine as a result of its cooperation with BioNTech, made an agreement with Cidade Alta, one of the largest servers in Latin America, as part of a remarkable campaign in Brazil. At this point, vaccine centers were added to the server in question, and COVID-19 vaccines were started to be given to the characters within the scope of various missions.

While the characters with their vaccinations are given a special sticker that can be affixed to their arm, the players are asked to share the screenshots they took from the game on social media platforms with the hashtag #InGameVaccine so that the campaign reaches more people.

It should be noted that this campaign, organized by Pfizer and Cidade Alta, attracted great attention all over the world in a short time. On the other hand, it is a matter of curiosity how this project, which is implemented on the server that receives more than six million interactions daily, will reflect on the vaccination rates of 60.4 percent in Brazil.

So what do you think about this subject? Can this move by Pfizer and Cidade Alta to promote vaccines achieve its purpose? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
